THE BRIEF:

To replace two worn and distressed manual timber side sliding doors with a more contemporary updated look.

Step 1

A no obligation, free site survey was arranged to measure up the doors and discuss what style of door the client was looking for and the requirements for the garage and the doors.

A decision was made to go for two Hormann Automatic LPU 42mm Insulated L-Ribbed Sectional Doors in Anthracite Grey. As there is no other access to the garage other than through the garage doors an external release was included as this is required to allow access in the event of a power failure.

Step 2

A formal quote was then raised confirming in detail the product and work that would be carried out, along with our terms and conditions and an approximate lead time for installation from the time of ordering.

Once the quote was accepted, the order was placed with the manufacturer and a date for receiving the doors was given, allowing us to work with the client in arranging an installation date that suited the client’s availability.

Step 3

On installation day two teams of two men removed the existing timber side sliding doors and stripped off the old timber framework. The opening was then prepared for the new doors, with new track fixings being installed to allow the doors to run.  A further check of the existing floor levels was done to ensure that the new doors would be in alignment.

Once this was completed the new modern Hormann Automatic LPU 42mm Insulated Sectional doors were fitted along with the Hormann Promatic Remote Control Systems, PVC was also applied to the surrounds in a matching colour to the garage doors and our client now has two fully automated stylish doors which fit in with his exterior finishings and trims.

Results

The install took just one day to complete and all the components were thoroughly tested, which includes ensuring that the auto-reverse function was working and a demonstration was given to the clients along with a run through on how to use the automated system and external release and ensure that they were happy with the work carried out.

The installation team cleared everything away and took the old doors and framework back to our premises so that they could be collected and disposed of by a recognised Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) disposal company.
